In February 2005, The Contemporary Couch   was born.  With our combined 45 years of experience in the furniture business, we set out to create a unique design environment.  Just minutes from the most popular shopping areas in New York and New Jersey, we wanted our clients to see a beautiful showroom featuring the latest in contemporary and modern furniture designs. We wanted to prove that creativity was alive in the furniture business. We realized that many consumers today feel most stores exhibit a 'sameness' in design and color. Our clients are special, and their homes are special.  Through unique color and fabric coordination, custom modern and leather furniture, custom area rugs and custom accessories, Pia's training as an artist brings life to contemporary furniture.

On display, in our showroom you will see coordinated room settings.  All of our furniture and accessories have 3 things in common.  Shape! Design! Color!  We refuse to be boring!   Our modern living rooms are all shapely and inviting.  Several fabrics and leathers cover each design to enhance their uniqueness, all are covered in bright colors and surrounded by custom area rugs.  These rugs are all hand drawn by Pia to match the curves of your furniture, and colored to match the fabrics.  They are all one-of-kind "art for your floor".  Our tables and accessories are also unique.  Created by Pia, they are all manufactured by local artisans to bring you the latest in art sculptures. No one in New York, New Jersey and the entire east coast offers anything close to our presentation.

This is our home. Yes, the most exciting contemporary interior design showroom in this country is located in an office building in Carlstadt, NJ. Once inside, you will enter an imaginative environment where design ideas are created to make your home beautiful. There are no limits to our imagination. Let us share our unique ideas with you.

We cover this category in 2 ways:

1. First, we integrate leather into our regular contemporary furniture fabric groupings.  It's so creative to show a winding sectional with a beautiful fabric on the back and a buttery soft leather on the seat (See Client Home #4).  No one in NY or NJ offers our unique styles.  How about a sculptured leather recliner with a comfortable fabric sofa and love seat? Or an accent ottoman with a fabric and leather on the same piece?  The addition of leather to our already complex fabric and suede living rooms is a great addition to your choices.

2. Second, we display the finest leather furniture from this country and across the world. Leather furniture offers the combination of luxury and comfort.  Soft luxurious feel, deep seating comfort. Plus, we offer the rarest selection of shapely leather.  Walk in to most stores today and you are offered restricted sizes and colors.  We offer all sizes, all colors and all shapes.  All coordinated by interior designer Pia to give you that special look.

In addition to such a creative selection of modern and creative living rooms The Contemporary Couch offers custom made dining rooms, bedrooms and media centers.  We have the unique capabilities of drawing up any design and manufacturing them.  Unique finishes, colors and metal accents decorate all styles.  From that special 72" round dining table, to a luxurious king size bed, to a new media center to hold your 60' flat screen TV.  We do it all.

Dramatic design! Shape! Creativity! For those who desire a centerpiece to a room for that new TV. Only a true artist can coordinate a unique color palette. Now on display in our showroom!

All of what we offer would be useless without offering our at-home professional interior design service.  After viewing our showroom and deciding we are for you, Pia will come to your home and take measurements, look over the area and find out what you are hoping to do with your home.  Then Pia gives you a professional presentation back in the showroom offering suggestions on styles, paint colors and of course the furniture.  All priced separately for you so you decide at what pace you would like to purchase. Three months or three years.  If you follow the plan, the final look will be just as you and Pia planned.    

There it is.  Unique contemporary furniture, leather furniture, custom rugs and art sculptures.  Presented by a professional interior designer, in a warm inviting environment.  At less money than a typical furniture store because we don't charge for our design services.  Tired of the 'sameness' of typical furniture stores?  Had enough of unprofessional salespeople who don't understand their product?
