Leather furniture continues to grow in popularity. Long known for its durability, leather today is so much more. Tanning techniques developed the last few years has turned a coarse, dry material into a supple, butter soft material that is easily upholstered and feels great to sit on. The latest dye techniques has taken the boring leather palette of black and white, to the rich brown tones, to beiges and berries, all the way to splashier colors of reds, celeries, yellows and plums. Added style comes from tufting, chrome or wood trim, moveable arms and backs, and of course the special touches that The Contemporary Couch can design for you. In addition we design unique fabric pieces where we add leather to the design. Weiman, Lazar and Carter furniture are three examples where we have added leather to their upholstery lines. As with any style of contemporary furniture, there are different qualities, designs and creativity when it comes to the contemporary leather furniture marketplace. When you purchase from other stores, don't just go by looks. The leather might be of lower quality. The interior of the frame might be made poorly. The sofa might consist of 'leather matches' (part of the material is plastic, not leather). Also, the leather might be of better quality where you sit, but of lesser quality on the arms and backs. This allows a store to call the modern couch 'all leather', but it is not 'all quality'. A lot of stitching on the cushions is also a sign of inferior quality.
