Part of our goal in designing homes, is to keep all family members happy. After all, we don't want parents to be happy and the children at work or school telling friends they don't like their parents new furniture. We certainly don't want the grandchildren at preschool complaining about Grandma and grandpa's new furniture. We need future clients too! After completing the designs for the parents living room (see before and after # 23), we turned our attention to the seven children and grandchildren and their needs. Of course a large screen t.v. and fireplace were the focal points of the room. Comfort was a priority, but good design also was key. No one wanted just a 'hang-out' room. Everyone still wanted something different and exciting. When you shop at 'The Contemporary Couch', design ideas float around all the time until someone says, yes! We took a very comfortable, well made leather sectional and dressed it up by contrasting the arms only in a beautiful contemporary pattern velvet of taupe, cream and light blue. a shapely oval stone coffee table (for durability), and coordinating throws complete the sitting area. A stunning window treatment done in threads of taupe, blue and magenta, accent the taupe leather sectional. A custom made media center combining storage and display complete the room. Designed in a soft two tone taupe finish, durability was key for this 'family room'. The entire family was over the house for a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner for 30, and everyone loved all the new furnishings. It's not easy to cook for 30, but it was a real pleasure to design for 30.
