The excitement and joy of moving in to a new home, should only be enhanced by shopping for new furniture. The furniture business has developed a negative reputation with consumers because of late deliveries, unruly and unhelpful salespeople, bad service and a host of complaints we have heard through the years about other stores.

We at 'The Contemporary Couch' are trying to overcome those stereotypes, and return furniture shopping to what it should be. FUN!!! Yes, that's right, looking at creative designs, matching colors and fabrics, picking out shapes for custom rug designs and wanting to make your home as beautiful and warm as you always dreamed. Whether your home is an apartment you are renting, or your first ownership experience, or your retirement home, we want to make your furniture buying experience as enjoyable as possible. We love your new home, as much as you do!

Designing this beautiful new construction home was a laugh fest for 5 hours. We keep our clients well fed, so in between coffee, snacks, chocolates, lunch, desserts, and a million laughs, we somehow found the time to design a beautiful room. Focal point of the room is a comfortable leather and microfiber sectional, oozing with style and design, covered in a rich saddle leather and wrapped in a brick color suede. The customer couldn't understand how close the chaise would be to the fireplace so we had him lie down on the chaise in the showroom, and lit a match by his feet. (Only kidding Carlstadt fire department). In front of the sectional was,.....Now all together you website groupies....."A Signature Collection, Pinnacle Award winning 'Pia' custom area rug." Thank you gang.

On the opposite wall, is a true representation of a wall unit for today's T.V.s. Gone are the days of those heavy wall units. Here we designed a light, shapely unit, with a sculptured base for electronic equipment, and two hanging pieces for the wall. It has to be designed around the large screen t.v. and around the speakers built into the wall. The materials used are also striking, combining copper with a rich chocolate wood finish.

In the foyer the client wanted a custom rug that would be truly unique, and Pia designed a 6 sided geometric rug to fit the exact shape of the area. This is a critical area in the home because it connects the kitchen, bedroom, and living room. The colors used are cobalt blue, purples, greens and cranberry. It will be spectacular!

Thank-you to this client, for making such a far trip to find us, for letting us into their home so it could be designed properly, for purchasing our designs, but more importantly....Thank you for letting us express our passion for design, while all of us had a blast, and remembering that designing a home should be a joyous and rewarding experience!

We moved into our new home with lots of high ceilings and empty rooms.  The few pieces of furniture that we brought with us looked old and very uninspiring.  The task of furnishing our new home was daunting.
Since we love contemporary things, we knew it would be difficult.  Most stores selections of contemporary items were limited.  So we decided to look for a decorator.  This too proved difficult; many did not have contemporary looks in their portfolios.  We got so desperate, my technophobe husband searched for resources online.  Luckily, we found this website.  I was skeptical, but a few days later we happened to be in northern New Jersey to visit family, so we stopped by.
WELL-we were impressed, excited, thrilled with the showroom.  We wanted to take all the furniture home with us.  And Pia and Larry were so concerned that the items we selected would be perfect for us.  We decided to start with our family room. They came to our house to measure, get the feel of our home and our tastes.  Then we spent an incredible day with them to start picking things out.  It was so much fun...
 And here is the result.  We are thrilled and love to be in our family room.  It is warm, inviting and well--quite perfect.  So now we are working on our dining room and front sitting area.
