Interesting design challenge. After purchasing this weekend home in Baltimore, this couple had definite design ideas. A bold color palette, custom home office, unique custom area rugs and a home furnished the way they had always dreamed.

      The views from this home are spectacular. The Baltimore skyline can be seen from every window, and the reflection in the harbor is amazing. The design challenge called for combining all of their needs and all of the design elements the couple wanted. They insisted on comfort with style and artistry with usefulness. No heavy dark color schemes, no oversized furniture. A light airy look so they could gaze out the windows to enjoy their beautiful views.

Living Room

Our new leather sectionals feature adjustable headrests and power recliners. Good things in life come in 3's and this sectional is no exception. Three power recliners sit side by side in the sectional so everyone can face the TV. No more putting poor Uncle Adam in the odd seat twisting his neck. Now everyone is happy.This allows you to find just the right comfort level for the new 70" TV. Just being surrounded by our butter soft leathers makes the wine a little sweeter, and a night time movie that much more enjoyable. Shapely two tone swivel leather chairs makes it easy to watch tv or turn your attention to the conversation. In the center of the room, is a geometric custom area rug perfectly coordinating all the design elements of the room.

Home Office

There are many ways to create a home office. Our way is to create a look so you don't feel like you are working in an office.

Our custom cabinetry is built to the inch to satisfy your most individual working needs. For this home, each drawer had to be designed to fit an extensive camera collection as well as additional work items. A shapely computer desk with keyboard pullout adds to the style and the usefulness.
Luxurious leather swivel chairs covered in the softest Elmo leather, and a coordinating deep seating chair make the room appetizing for the next social gathering.

The highlight of this design experience is the custom rug. As you can see in the photo, the client enjoys a spectacular view of the Harbour from every window. Pia wanted to recreate this view in a custom area rug coordinating all the colors used on the seating. This rug creation is a one of a kind design, signed by Pia, that is as creative and unique as artwork hanging on the wall. Our rugs are artwork for your floor!

Dinette

American made dinette chairs featuring stainless steel curved backs and microsuede seats surround an extraordinary dining table imported from Italy. Two separate stones are used and curved on the ends. Swarovski silver dust is embedded into the finish to give it just the right sparkle.

Bedroom

Our custom bedrooms are manufactured one at a time by artisans to the exact specifications that Pia designs for you. A iridescent pearl vinyl covers is upholstered to the headboard and every other piece is made to the inch to accommodate the clients' needs.

They seem very happy and satisfied with their brand new furniture. Wonderful people, dear friends, generous in spirit, adventurous in life (from motorcycle to African Safari). They wanted their future retirement home on the shores of Baltimore Harbour to reflect their creativity and their zest for life. They wanted a unique look as individual as they are. They wanted a quality design and quality furniture.

    About a hundred years ago, when I was a small boy in grade school, my class supply list said, “crayons.” So, like most parents, my mother came home from the local drug store with the 39 cent pack of 8 Crayola colors. And, upon meeting the needs of the list, I was a happy camper - until I got to school the next day. There I was with all the other kids and everyone was smiling and showing off their new boxes of 8 crayons and waiting for art class to start, when a little girl classmate of mine pulled out of her book bag a box of 64 Crayola colors. There were colors that I had never heard of before or even knew existed. What the heck is “mauve” and “oh my god, this crayon even has glitter??!!” And to top it all off, like James Bond, the crayon box had a hidden sharpener so that her crayons were always sharp and pointed and could stay within the lines. WOW! Well, we all knew who was going to get the “A” in art class that year!

    Walking into “The Contemporary Couch” on Route 4 in Paramus is like finding that box of 64 color Crayolas with the hidden sharpener! First, your eyes are greeted with a display of colors and fabrics and designs that are unlike any other showroom my wife and I visited. And, unlike some of those other showrooms where sales personnel swoop down on you like prey, Larry and Pia give you a moment to catch your breath, to take it all in, and then they will introduce not only themselves, but also their furniture.

    And when Larry and Pia introduce their furniture, you will understand that if you are willing to follow the yellow brick road that you are in for a creative and unique experience. You will soon realize that you are not just purchasing “cookie-cutter” furniture guaranteed to be delivered in three days like your neighbors may have, but that you are getting ready to paint the canvas of your house in fabrics and designs and personality that are as exciting and inviting as you, the homeowner.

    In addition to the sense of form and function and pizzazz that our new furniture gives me, I was just as impressed with one of the other services that Larry and Pia offer. Pia will personally come to your home during the delivery and like a maestro conducting an orchestra make sure that every piece fits –not just “good enough” but, perfectly!
