What in the world could entice this couple to leave this view from their terrace to drive to Carlstadt, NJ to shop at 'The Contemporary Couch'?..........read their story and see design plan below.

We are very honored that shoppers from all over the country view our website. People always call to give us their comments. Even people that don't need furniture love to call us and comment on our new items, or our newsletter. We are trying to make the furniture business fun and interesting, so we appreciate all of the calls.

This client called to find out if it was worth it to make the drive from Rhode Island. How do we answer that question?

We answered her question with more questions.

1. Between our showroom and Rhode Island, is there any other store that does all we do. NO!
2. Do you love creativity in home furnishings?    YES!
3. Do you love your home?     YES!
4. Do you mind making a long drive 2 or 3 times so that you could have a beautiful home for many years to come? NO!
5. Will you serve us lobster rolls when we come to your home to design?    YES!

And so another precious relationship is born between us and our new client.

The story begins as the couple travels in from Rhode Island carrying a large tote bag filled with photos, ideas, files and fabric swatches. She is in the fashion design business and has a passion for unique, beautiful textures and fabrics. A relationship is born to the point where Pia gives up the ultimate secret.....who cuts her hair.

Back to furniture. Before finding The Contemporary Couch, the client purchased some furniture elsewhere, and needed Pia to complete the home with furniture and accessories.

We visited the home and were shocked by absolute beautiful setting. The home is on the ocean and features wrap around terraces and extensive decks. The view is incredible, the setting magical. The color palette selected includes taupes, silvers and sand.

We looked at all the rooms, deciding where just the right accessory would go, and how a custom rug would complete the living room. This is truly a beautiful home and it was going to be a design challenge to complete what was already started by the client.

A few days later the presentation takes place back in the showroom. Upholstered vinyl grasscloth chairs, a bombay chest, and 2 custom paintings for the dining room. Custom coffee table and console for the living room, and a custom rug between the sofas.

The home office will get a chair and ottoman in pearl vinyl and coral accents. Grandma's room gets a custom rug in sea foam and coral. At the top of the landing a dramatic custom painting by Pia featuring a nautical theme including a mermaid. Additional chair and ottoman covered in sea foam and chablis will brighten the guest bedroom.

All the designing was done with the client whose vision and excellent taste will help complete the home. Sometimes clients have no idea how to decorate and we lead them step by step. In this case Pia and the client will together finish the home in a grand way. Just sitting on the terrace and seeing the photographed view was amazing.
